PROJECT

Remote Sensing Survey For Unexploded Ordnance Fort Battery Water Range, Hawaii

Client

USA Environmental, Inc. and the Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pacific

Location

Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii

Scope

A magnetic and acoustic remote sensing survey was conducted to locate Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) in the Pacific Ocean, adjacent to Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Hawaii. The principal goal of the investigation was to identify anomalies and obstructions on the seafloor that are suggestive of UXOs. A prioritized list of acoustic targets from the survey was then created to assist in the scheduled ROV investigations across the project area. The offshore project area included about 3,000 acres of submerged lands in the Pacific Ocean from shoreline to 120 foot depth waters within the Naval Defensive Sea Area Pearl Harbor.
